stone wall work
dry stone walling

Dry Stone walling is part of our Lake District heritage but also occurs in various forms throughout the world. It is a very traditional form of Low Impact building (eco building), using local raw materials, often with little or, no inputs other than labour. Stone walls often display something of local geology, history and something of the artisans who made them.

At Lakeland Permaculture we plan to undertake some Stonework on a contract basis:

  • ESA work
  • Garden walls
  • Ornamental stonework
  • Buildings and Stone Facing

During the course of the last thirty years we have worked alongside and learned eagerly from many stone wallers and artisans. We have worked as Walling and Stonework Contractors, supervised and managed other walling contractors, as well as arranging and providing walling tuition.

We can provide guidance and tuition about walls, and the basics of 'How to Wall'. Contact us if you are interested.
